SocialBox.Biz Laptops for Homeless and Disadvantaged Initiative Celebrates Growth

A SocialBox.Biz post by Heather, 4 May 2020.

Since the beginning, the Laptops for Homeless and Vulnerable Initiative has always been about one thing: helping those in need. Right now, in a time when vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the homeless, are seeing an even higher need for laptops to stay connected with loved ones, careers, and education, the Laptops for Homeless and Vulnerable Initiative continues to grow.

The cause was recently mentioned in an annual report published by IWG and Regus. According to Richard Morris, CEO at IWG UK, “As a workspace provider driven by tech, we know how integral digital skills are to the way that people live and work.”

From Regus 2019 annual report

With the help of corporations such as Regus, we’ve created a mutually-beneficial model in which corporations are benefiting those in need, and the corporations’ efforts are also beneficial to their own models.

“Many of our great business clients are already helping people and families in hardship by shifting their procurement and ESG policies towards local social impact which can reduce digital exclusion among the most vulnerable in this country.” said the team at SocialBox.Biz.

At SocialBox.Biz, there are some common themes. For instance, we see that donating locally benefits the community. In addition, we find that donating locally reduces Scope 3 Emissions and boosts ESG, all while helping to increase share price of companies who donate.

More and more companies are finding that their old and unused but still useful IT equipment can be donated to support the needs local vulnerable people while also growing their links in the community via SocialBox.Biz initiative. Local donations have been proven to reduce carbon emissions while providing a greater impact on the lives of those in reception. We have been successful in this with the private sector businesses and are now inviting other sectors to join us in this social impact effort.

As the Laptops for the Homeless celebrates massive growth, we invite your organization to join our cause in 2020.

Gio Valdez, Social Impact Projects Leader at SocialBox.Biz said, “Our team is working on our new and even bigger goals for 2030 as part of the Laptops for Homeless and Vulnerable Initiative. With our donation boxes in participating Regus sites, not only are individuals donating no longer needed but still functioning laptops, but they are also donating business suits and attire, shoes, other still useful IT items, and more. Partnering with great British companies has allowed us to widen the scope of our mission.”

Regus sites have received hundreds of donated laptops, telephones, routers, servers, desktop computers, mobile telephones, IPads, IPhones and Apple products as well as business attire. Anyone who wants to participate in helping reaching the milestone, including Regus clients and the public, can donate laptops, computers, old mobile devices, attire, and more. Before donating, donors are asked to remove private data from tech devices for this public event.
